OK, approaching the edge of the Grand Canyon from our hotel patio literally brought me to tears. Only a little, and maybe it was all the driving and lack of sleep...but it does certainly take your breath away. You'd think I'd never seen it before, but it has been a long time.
After we unpacked, we went into the closest town for dinner and a movie. The movie was an IMAX made by National Geographic about the hidden treasures of the Grand Canyon. Lots of flying through canyons and crevasses and splashing through whitwater swells. We watched the reenactment of the first running of the full length of the Canyon by Mr. Powell and his buddies in 1869.
Our exploring begins today, although it won't involve ultralight flying or whitewater rafting -- we'll save that for another trip.
