Julie - Success!

I found it! We passed by the first Native American arts and crafts roadside stand we came across outside of the GC national park, commenting on how one can either find a gem or get ripped off at those stands.

At Roberta's urging, we stopped at the second one, "just for fun." Well, wouldn't you know, there it was...a small turquoise stone set on a ring that fit perfectly. In all of the tony jewelry shops inside the park, all of the rings that had tastefully small stones were way too small for me. Apparently, anyone with my size fingers should be wearing large gaudy stones. Thankfully, the stand we stopped at felt otherwise (for about 1/3 the cost of the rings inside the park). Here is a picture of the treasure.

OK, we also did some sightseeing today. Our destination after leaving the GC national park was Page, AZ, which wasn't even a town until they started building Glenn Canyon dam.

After a great lunch at the Ranch House Grill, we toured the visitor's center and then went swimming in the hotel pool. Here are some pics from the visitor's center.

  1. Pretty ring! In gold setting? That's quite a find!
The bridge looks like it's coming right out of the rock wall. wow!

  2. Kelly, it's silver (we think, time will tell). The goldish tone is reflection of the wooden table it is sitting on. We should have taken a picture of it on Julie's hand!
